Maximize Your Space in Your Apartment with These Tips!
One concern many have with apartment living is space! While our apartments in Rolla, Mo are pretty spacious, you will likely still have less space than a traditionally home, especially if you are sharing space with roommates. Getting ready to move into our apartments or on the fence about if you will have enough room? Check out a few tips and tricks for maximizing the space in your apartment!
1. Coffee Table Storage
Double your coffee table as a storage piece. You can fit movies or blankets inside without having an extra shelf or basket. Whether you opt for a lift top coffee table or a table with cabinets, the extra hidden space will help eliminate the feeling of clutter. Not only do you get the surface area you need but a place to put some entertainment goodies too!
2. Eliminate Side Tables
Nix the side tables and grab some sofa arm tray tables instead. Your arm rests can double as chic tables when you need one around. Or you can even opt for a sofa side end C table that tucks easily under the sofa to provide the table surface you need, without taking up valuable floor space. This is a great alternative than cluttering a smaller apartment with furniture.
3. Use a Dresser as a TV Stand
This could work in a bedroom or a living room. Combine the functionality of one furniture piece to reduce the amount of space used. You can use the dressers as place to store dvds, cords, and video game consoles when they're not in use. This will help to keep your living room looking clean and clutter free!
4. Use Wonder Hangers in Your Closets
You can create five times the amount of space in your closet with wonder hangers. Once you have five hangers on, unhook one side and it only takes up the space of one hanger. These hangers can save 80% of the wardrobe space and keep the clothes neat and wrinkle free. This is especially helpful if you're trying to make space in the coat closet!
5. Raise the Bed
An easy way to add more storage space to the apartment is to add bed risers. You’ll get instant storage space underneath your bed for off-season clothes or media needs. Just grab a few under bed storage containers, and you're good to go!
6. Make Use of Empty Space
Bathrooms seem to be the hardest place to find extra storage space that we so desperately need. But by using the empty space available, your storage woes can be eliminated. Use hanging baskets to store towels and washcloths above the toilet. Hang a hanging shoe organizer on the inside of the linen closet door to store hair product and other toiletries. Store your toothbrushes in your bathroom cabinet door by simply tacking a couple of cups to the inside of the door. Using only a few supplies and very little effort, you can utilize the empty space. No more cluttered counters!
